Ouch! You Have Been Pwned.

This morning, I woke up to the bone-chilling email from You’ve been pwned! And I also later learnt that Epik, a domain registrar and web host suffered a significant data breach with a total of 15,003,961 accounts affected.

What Is Have I Been Pwned?

So what exactly is HaveIBeenPawned? HIBP is a free resource for anyone to quickly assess if they may have been put at risk due to an online account of theirs having been compromised or “pwned” in a data breach. Simply put, it’s a database which holds data breaches which you can search and see if your email ID is among the data breaches.

How To Use Have I Been Pwned.

Head over to https://haveibeenpwned.com/, type in the email ID you wish to check and search. If your email ID is included in any data breach, you will face a rather blunt, You have been pwned message.

You can also set up an alert to notify you as soon as data breaches have been reported or discovered by simply entering your email ID in here

Now What?

The best practise after receiving such news is to immediately change your passwords and ensure that you are using MFA on all accounts.
